Bluedevils News · Fort Lupton Hires New Head Football Coach

Bluedevil Community,

I can proudly announce that Joey O’Connor  who was born and raised in Northern Colorado, attended Windsor High School and was the Bluedevils Offensive Coordinator this past 2020 football season has been selected and accepted the next Head Football Coaching position for the Fort Lupton Bluedevils.  Please welcome him to the Bluedevil Family and we are excited that he has made the decision to become a part of the Bluedevil Community.

Here is a brief bio of Coach O’Connor’s experience and family.

Coach attended Windsor High School and was fortunate enough to win a football state championship. He went on to receive a full ride scholarship to The Ohio State University. His college football career was cut short due to injury, ultimately leading him into the coaching world. His love for the game eventually landed him as a part of the Offensive staff at University high school. During those four years, he helped lead the team to the playoffs for the first time in 31 years. He then received an opportunity to coach at Lutheran High School Parker where he was Run-game and Special teams coordinator which led him to Fort Lupton where he spent last season as the Offensive Coordinator.

He brings a lot of passion to the game and genuinely cares about the development of student athletes into young adults. Growing up in a small town, he realizes the importance of community support and the impact that a football program can have in bringing the community together. He is also a proud father of his 3-year-old son, Rory.

Mark your calendars for a Meet the Coach night on Wednesday April 7th at 6:00 PM in the High School Commons. Where student-athletes, parents and the community can meet Coach O’Connor. Masks are required.

Go Bluedevils!
