Football Update – 9/17/2020
Late Wednesday evening the CHSAA Board of Directors approved the return of football, field hockey, and sideline spirit in the Fall Season, now referred to as Season A, for those schools that want to return. The vote was 12-3 in favor of allowing schools this option. You can read the press release from CHSAA here. Additionally, per the CHSAA statement: “Requested variances for the remaining fall sports — gymnastics, boys soccer, spirit, girls volleyball, and unified bowling — remain under consideration by the COVID Response Team.”
In anticipation of this approval, we have been working with Mr. Kaylor, Weld Re-8 Superintendent of Schools, and our local Board of Education Members, and coaching staffs to be prepared and ready if, and when, the approval was given. We are confident that our teams can, and will, return safely to play in Season A. Our schools are, and will, always remain educationally-based and athletics is always a privilege to play for Fort Lupton High School, but we feel confident that playing sooner rather than later is in the best interest of our athletes, our Community, and our league to resume play in Season A. We will safely return to Season A following all of the CDPHE guidelines and CHSAA recommendations. While we are still hopeful that our other Fall Sports such as Volleyball and Soccer may still be approved in Season A, we will move forward with those that are approved. I know many of us are looking forward to “Friday Night Lights”.
Our Fort Lupton Middle School programs will follow our Northern Plains Middle-Level Association guidelines for all sports, which as of today are scheduled to begin after the first of the year.
We appreciate your patience and grace as we continue to navigate these changes, and we are looking forward to playing all of our Middle School and High School sports this year.
